Planning for learning at St Therese starts with assessment of student knowledge and skills in all KLAs. Pretesting is a required component of the planning process, providing teachers with valuable information about each child’s needs. Programs of work are then differentiated to ensure that students are working at their point of learning and are being suitable challenged according to their ability.
Ongoing assessment is a part of every unit of work, ensuring that the teacher is informed as to how best to move ahead with a child’s learning. Assessment of both formative and cumulative. Students are assessed at the end of a unit of work to show what they have learnt from the learning experiences.
Parents are informed of their child’s progress though:
- requested Parent/Teacher Interviews during term
- a formal written report at the end of Semester 1 and Semester 2
- a formal Parent/Teacher Interview with their child (Yrs 5 & 6) at the end of Semester 1 (Term 2)
