Leadership is a concept to which students are introduced at an early age at St Therese. It is based on our sense of belonging, our commitment to the mission of Jesus and our understanding of our responsibility to work positively to create a harmonious school environment.
All students in Stage 3 (Yrs 5 & 6) are considered to be the senior leaders in the school. They are ‘buddies’ to Kindergarten and Year 1 and they are encouraged to lead by example.
All students in Year 6 are formally presented with a Student Leader badge and they commit themselves to leadership within the school during their last year at the school. Leadership Training is done early in the year to provide them with the skills necessary.
Each year, students in Yrs 4,5 & 6 elect a small group (8 – 12) of Year 6 students to be the Student Council. These students are given greater opportunities to lead the school through prayer, assemblies, greeting visitors and attending functions.
Similarly House Captains and House Captains are elected to lead the Houses at sports carnivals and to assist with Physical Education and sporting equipment in the school.
